The patterns have varying levels of difficulty. Each pattern has been given a level of difficulty ranging from 1 X to 5 XXXXX , where 1 X is given to the patterns that are the easiest for beginners to knit and 5 XXXXX are given to the patterns with the most advances techniques aimed at experienced knitters.
We recommend that you knit the pattern sample, which is included in all patterns from Loops by Hanne Helms, in order to practise the techniques and ensure that your yarns are suitable for the pattern.
How difficult is the pattern?
1 X – BEGINNER
This category is for beginner knitters.
Here you only need to know the most basic techniques to be able to knit the pattern.
The patterns have very beginner friendly language with no or very few abbreviations.

Mattress stitches and chaining
2 XX – EXPERIENCED BEGINNER
You have completed your first project and feel confident reading a pattern.
In this category you will meet abbreviations. The abbreviations that are particular for this pattern will have explanations.

Simple buttonholes
Simple texture patterns
Increase
Purl through the back loop
3 XXX – INTERMEDIATE
You have experience with and feel confident in using the basic knitting techniques, as the patterns contain more advanced techniques.

Italian cast on,

knitting with more than one color at a time
Kitchener stiches
i-cord
4 XXXX – EXPERIENCED INTERMEDIATE
You are an experienced knitter and can manage a pattern. You can keep track of multiple elements at the same time.

Work a charted pattern
Advanced texture patterns
Brioche
5 XXXXX – ADVANCED
You are a seasoned knitter and you know how to navigate managing charts and shaping based on the instructions given in the pattern. You have a fundamental understanding of the construction and the logic of knitting.

Advanced edges, collars and buttonholes
Decreases/increases worked in patterns
Other advanced techniques
